IT TOOK a bout of careless swearing to make me warm to David Cameron. On a radio show this morning, the Tory leader dismissed the messaging service Twitter with the phrase "too many twits make a twat", and agreed that the public is "pissed off " with MPs.

It's not just that I agree with Cameron on both counts. It's that his salty outburst showed a brief flash of humanity beneath his sleekly robotic political veneer. Cameron's DJ host on Absolute Radio, Christian O'Connell, clearly felt the same. "DC. What a top bloke," he wrote on his own Twitter feed. Shame he didn't call him a top f***ing geezer.
