CARDINAL CORMAC Murphy-O'Connor, head of the catholic church in England, will celebrate his 75th birthday on Friday. This is the age at which the Archbishop of Westminster is traditionally expected to retire, but the Cardinal has controversially been given special dispensation by the Pope, who is widely regarded as a conservative, to remain in office until he decides otherwise.
