HOUSE prices rose by a further 2.2 per cent last month amid signs of a strong pickup in the London property market, a new survey showed today.

The rise recorded by Halifax, the country's biggest mortgage lender, means homeowners' properties increased in value by 20.4 per cent in the year to the end of May.
