THE LAST time Jean Charles de Menezes spoke to the cousins with whom he shared his flat it was the day of the 21 July attempted bombings, the attacks that would lead to his death at the hands of Scotland Yard. He told Vivien and Patricia what had happened, and asked them to be careful on their way home. Less than 24 hours later he was dead.
