Bus Travellers Hit by 24-Hour Strike ; in Brief

Summary


THOUSANDS of bus passengers were left stranded today after the RMT union ordered a 24-hour strike. A further 24-hour stoppage has been ordered to take place next week and there is the threat of more disruption to come after that. The stoppage - over pay and working conditions - hit services in Croydon, Richmond, Tooting, Kingston, Purley and Mitcham. The union is in dispute with operator Centra Buses. Some early services tomorrow morning could also be cancelled.
