ONE MAN who must be feeling mighty embarrassed about the current spate of vicious attacks on Gordon Brown by members of his own party is the former shadow home secretary Clive Soley.

It fell to the former MP for Hammersmith and chairman of the Parliamentary Labour Party Lord Soley to be the Brutus, or perhaps the Leo Amery, of New Labour, telling Tony Blair two years ago that his time was up as leader of the party.
