Detailed analysts' notes after BA results briefings show: fares will have to be lifted at least 10% to go anywhere near offsetting rising fuel prices; the carrier will have to start cutting costs and laying off crew as it flies fewer planes next winter, on top of the 2000 staff set to go at Heathrow once the T5 move is complete; and most serious analysts rate the stock a sell because despite fares rises and cost cuts, the airline still won't make anything like a profit this year.
