Summary
How will you play 6H when West leads the nine of trumps? It would be poor play to rely on the diamond finesse, because the club suit offers you an excellent chance of establishing a discard for the diamond loser. When trumps are 2-2, there is also the possibility of an elimination play that may allow you to survive when the clubs break poorly. You win the trump lead in your hand and cash the aceking of spades, followed by the ace of clubs.
You then cross to the queen of trumps. If trumps broke 3-1, you would continue to play clubs, hoping to find a 3-2 break, which would allow you to discard your diamond loser on the fourth round of clubs. Here the trumps break 2-2. You continue with the 10 of clubs, intending to run the card if East follows low (guaranteeing the contract). When East shows out on the second round of clubs, you rise with the king and lead the three of clubs.See the full content of this document
