THE highest profile casualty of Tony Hayward's shake-up of BP is Vivienne Cox. Once tipped to be in the running for the top job herself, she ran Gas, Power and Renewables, having been promoted heavily by her mentor, Lord Browne. In effect, Cox was in charge of Browne's "Beyond Petroleum" strategy. Under the Hayward plan, she keeps her title of executive vice president (enabling BP to insist she has not been demoted) but is consigned to a much-reduced division, Alternative Energy.
Hayward has no appetite for Browne's much-vaunted green policy he wants to make his name, initially at least, from making profits and returns for investors from oil.See the full content of this document
