DAVID BLUNKETT is funnelling his earnings from his diaries into a private company in an apparent bid to avoid paying tens of thousands of pounds in income tax.

The former Cabinet minister has already declared Pounds 100,000 from his publishers paid into the company - but according to his entry in the annual register of MPs' interests, he has not taken a penny as personal income, meaning that he is not liable to pay any income tax on the sum. Some MPs said it flew in the face of Labour's policy of closing tax loopholes.
