ANOTHER chapter of Britain's brewing history was closed today as Greene King announced plans to axe the historic TD Ridley brewery in Essex.

Greene King is to buy TD Ridley Sons for Pounds 45.6 million to take over its 73 Essex pubs. It will close the Hartford End site near Chelmsford, which has been brewing since 1842.
