DAMIEN HIRST is preparing to sack more of his staff as interest in his work slides and recession hits his empire.

The artist's spokesman Jude Tyrrell would not say where the jobs axe would fall or speculate on any losses, but she did admit he had not been immune to the recession. "Mr Hirst has reached the end of several series of works and he is now in the process of reviewing his studio operations," she said. "As a result it is anticipated that jobs may be at risk." Hirst's position in the Rich List is 238.
