NATURALLY, I shed a manly tear when I read that Gordon Ramsay's new restaurant had bombed spectacularly with so many New York food critics.

Despite being massively over-egged by his half-baked PR company, it's failed to become f lavour of the month with restaurant reviewers, one of whom was "shocked by leathery, rubbery lobster ravioli", while another was reminded of "cruise-ship food", and a third complained about his sea scallops ("overcooked ... someone hasn't a clue what great chefs here do with scallops"), not to mention the enormous bill, and lavatory doors that didn't lock properly.
