SKY NEWS seems determined to be the first to screen an historic televised debate between our party leaders including the Prime Minister. John Ryley, head of Sky News, argues, "Public confidence in politics is at the lowest ebb. Something must be done to help restore faith in our political system."

But the move has put noses out of joint at the BBC which has, along with other broadcasters including Sky, been working behind the scenes to initiate a live debate.
