BBC BOSSES came under fire today for spending Pounds 5,000 on a wine and canapes party for MPs when almost 3,000 corporation staff face redundancy.

About 250 people attended last night's party at the Atrium restaurant and bar below the BBC's Millbank base, a short walk from the House of Commons, even though more than 10 per cent of the BBC's workforce up to 2,800 staff face redundancy as director-general Mark Thompson tries to save Pounds 2 billion.
