NOW that Jonathan Ross is back on telly following his three month suspension by the BBC, how long can it be before Russell Brand is restored to his former position on Radio 2? The two men were in deep trouble last October when they left lewd messages on the actor Andrew Sachs's voicemail and broadcast them on Brand's show.

Ross was banished from the airwaves, Brand left the station and Radio 2's controller Lesley Douglas lost her job. Now there are signs that Douglas's successor Bob Shennan, four months into his job as controller of Radio 2 and Radio 6 Music, is thinking about bringing Brand back. Ariel, the BBC's in house magazine, reports that, when asked whether Russell Brand could make a come back on Radio 2, Shennan refused to rule it out.
