THE GENERAL mood in the dressing room after the defeat was one of embarrassment. We had let a great opportunity slip so badly and then I had to go and shake hands with my old London Wasps mates Warren Gatland and Shaun Edwards, the Welsh coaches.

A lot of people are talking about Warren and Shaun and their impact on the result, but it's a fact that we contributed enormously to our own demise and after the way England played in the first half, they would have been at that point trying to get as a far under their seats as possible! It's very easy after a match to sit back and say "we should have done that" in given situations and as the World Cup showed, winning rugby isn't always attractive. Because we had started so positively against Wales, it was then hard to switch back into a "shut-down" mode to make minimal errors when you are in that zone.
