INSURANCE giant Aviva is set to move into the Pounds 320 billion bulk annuities market, which has until now been dominated by its rivals Legal General and Prudential. Bulk annuities are bought by final-salary, company pension funds in order to guarantee they can pay promised pensions.

The market is expanding rapidly as firms close or seek to wind up schemes.
