SIX out of the nine Tories on the London Assembly today backed David Cameron for leader. The two-to-one endorsement in the capital will boost Mr Cameron's credentials as the candidate to win back the big cities.

The assembly members hailed him as the man most capable of "speaking directly to Londoners about the issues that concern them".
