LONDON is losing almost one billion litres of water from leaks every day - enough to fill 17 Olympic-size swimming pools every hour. The London Assembly environment committee has strongly criticised Thames Water for an alleged lack of long-term planning, at a time when water bills will rise by 24 per cent over the next five years while the company is making annual profits of Pounds 200million and paying its directors Pounds 1.8 million a year.
