PATRICIA HEWITT was accused of "blatant gerrymandering" today after overruling NHS bosses on the location of a key London hospital.

The Health Secretary has decided the new hospital for south-west London should be built at St Helier in the Labour territory of Mitcham and Morden-Her decision has provoked fury among health managers who had recommended the facility should be built on the site of Sutton hospital in Surrey.
