DANCE English National Ballet/Sleeping Beauty Coliseum AFTER what seems like years of artistic and financial gremlins, the Good Fairy may be working her magic at English National Ballet (ENB). I say that quietly because providence is easily tempted, yet at last night's premiere of its old-for-new Sleeping Beauty, ENB looked more confident and dignified than it has for ages.
This Beauty is the work of Kenneth MacMillan, the British choreographer best known for his lushly naturalistic, emotionally gritty ballets. Made for American Ballet Theatre in 1987, MacMillan's production was picked up by ENB because, not to put too fine a point on it, it couldn't afford an allnew version of its own.See the full content of this document
