AMONG the Pope's many achievements was spawning a heretical quote from the BBC press office.
In September 1980, Radio 3 broadcast a play by John Paul II called Outside the Jeweller's, which he wrote in 1960 while an auxiliary bishop in his native Krakow. It emerged that the three- act drama, about two marriages and their offspring, had been "slightly edited".
