AMERICAN Internat ional Group's (AIG) embattled former chief Maurice Greenberg will unwind the transfer of $2.28 billion (Pounds 1.25 billion) in shares he said were a gift to his wife.

Plaintiffs claimed the transfer, made two days before Greenberg was forced out of the top job at AIG, amounted to fraud.
