MORE than eight million Britons are problem drinkers, the Government warned today as it announced sweeping reforms to curb excessive alcohol consumption.
A joint Home Office and Department of Health consultation document on reducing alcohol misuse puts the total cost of the problem at Pounds 20billion a year. The paper says the number of alcohol-related deaths has doubled in the past 30 years and shows a dramatic rise in hospital admissions caused by drink.See the full content of this document
