Summary
PETER Hitchens's assassination of David Cameron on Channel 4 on Monday night illustrated Britain's eternal class system. The programme gripped me, though I try to ignore people's backgrounds when assessing them. It's the only way those with working-class pasts can prevent a chipped shoulder. An over-awareness of class guarantees us a boring, embittered life.
Hitchens portrayed Cameron as a cynical Etonian opportunist posing as a man of the people, and reminded me of my own interactions with the privileged and public-schooled.
