MOST graduates find it hard enough keeping an eye on their own finances, let alone getting to grips with how major public-sector organisations such as local government, housing associations, the criminal justice system, NHS Trusts and the fire and rescue services spend their cash. Yet the 50 or so graduates who join the Audit Commission each year must also look beyond the figures to deliver real improvement to the nation's public services.
With 2,500 people working across 10 offices, the Audit Commission is responsible for ensuring public money is spent wisely. Over a four-year programme, recruits combine studying for a Chartered Institute of Public Finance and Accountancy (CIPFA) qualification with on-the-job training, with placements tailored to enhance their learning.See the full content of this document
