Summary
ROSS King was charged with deserting his motherless child, Kathleen King. He pleaded not guilty. Sergeant Stagpole conducted the prosecution and said the man's wife had to go into service. She later died in hospital. The child was brought to Palmerston by Mrs A Sadd and cared for. After some trouble, they found the father working in Feilding. He promised to do what he could for his child, but was not heard from until he was arrested yesterday.
